Every year, in the last days of September, New York becomes the focus of global diplomacy for a few days; Presidents and heads of state, foreign ministers and senior representatives of almost 193 countries gather at the United Nations headquarters and explain their positions regarding the most important developments in the world on the floor of the General Assembly. But the most important part of this event takes place outside the central tribune and in corridors, conference rooms and intensive bilateral and multilateral meetings.

For the Islamic Republic of Iran, the meeting of world leaders at the United Nations in the past decade was not just an annual trip or a speech at the assembly; in these years, New York became one of the most important scenes for announcing Tehran's positions, defending the nuclear issue, consulting with world powers, talking with the UN Secretary General, conducting negotiations with European and regional countries, and planning diplomatic initiatives. From 2016 to 2026, the political and international environment has undergone profound changes. This decade began with the implementation of the nuclear agreement (Berjam); An agreement that is considered the most important achievement of Iran's multilateral diplomacy at that time. A few years later, the withdrawal of the US from the nuclear agreement (Berjam) and the return of sanctions changed New York's agenda.
