Predicting 75% of suicides a week before they occur
A new study from Harvard University, based on real-time monitoring of thoughts and emotions of more than 600 high‑risk individuals, shows that 75% of suicide attempts and 87% of related events can be predicted a week before they occur.
The New York Post reports:
It is difficult to predict suicide. Warning signs may be subtle and fleeting, or easily mistaken for normal mood changes; for this reason, health professionals look for signs that a person may be at risk of suicide so they can intervene early and save their life.
