In response to Trump's threats, the Prime Minister of Canada welcomed the country's becoming the "first associate member" of the European Union and called the US tariffs "a tool for applying pressure"; he also emphasized: Canada and Europe are stronger together.
During his speech at the European Parliament, Mark Carney, who emphasized the need for stronger relations between Canada and the European Union, suggested that both sides move towards strategic independence while cooperating deeply in areas such as security, artificial intelligence, energy and defense industries, and strengthen relations by facilitating student exchanges.
