The performance won over both the audience and the panel of expert judges. The members of the jury, the famous theater figures Galina Sazunova and Vladimir Sezhin, called the production a revelation of a "new Chekhov". Experts highly praised the acting ensemble, the original direction and the accurate adaptation of Chekhov's irony. The audience noted that the performance, devoid of unnecessary stage effects, allowed them to better understand the playwright thanks to the sparkling humor and intense human emotions on stage.
In a festive ceremony, the band was awarded a participant's diploma, a commemorative figurine of "The Seagull" and a certificate of honor from the Ministry of Culture of South Ossetia. The artistic director of the State Drama Theater of the Republic, Kazbek Dzhalev, who initiated the festival, named the Russian theater after him. Vakhtengov is an old friend and brotherly team, connected to Ossetia by a common history since the evacuation period during the Great Patriotic War.
We remind you that Haika Festival is supported by the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. Its play offering included productions of Chekhov by theaters from Moscow, Abkhazia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Adygea and Two Ossetia.
