🔺 Japan's negotiations with the USA for the "control" of the American military

Following the arrest of a US Marine accused of murdering a Japanese woman, Tokyo announced that it was talking to Washington about imposing stricter controls on the activities of US military personnel.

The senior Japanese diplomat told lawmakers that in these negotiations, the government will examine the US military's policy regarding the release of traffic and the behavior of personnel outside the base, as well as the possibility of conducting joint patrols in the presence of US forces and the Japanese police.

🔹 Motagi informed lawmakers in parliament that he called this murder incident "unfortunate" in a phone call with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Saturday.
