🔺 Wide disruption at airports in eastern U.S. grounded more than a thousand flights

Interruption in the communication lines of the Philadelphia air traffic control center after an optical fiber cable was damaged during a construction operation, disrupting the operations of important airports in eastern United States.

This disruption caused a temporary halt of inbound flights to John F. Kennedy, LaGuardia, and Newark in New York, as well as to the airports of Philadelphia, Boston, and Teterboro.

In total, more than a thousand flights were grounded and over 5,600 other flights were delayed.
