Michael Carrick will remain in his role for the time being despite an eight-match winless run and Manchester United's drop to 16th in the English Premier League and will sit on the bench against Chelsea on Saturday. According to the Sun newspaper, Manchester United managers decided to give Carrick another chance to change the team's terms after they lost 3-0 against Bournemouth. The 45-year-old United head coach appeared at Carrington's training ground on Tuesday morning and watched the team train ahead of the crucial game against Chelsea. This decision was made in a situation where the club's directors have not yet reached an agreement on the choice of Crick's successor. Antonio Conte, Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann are among the prominent options, but none of them have managed to win the full opinion of the managers. According to the Sun newspaper: "The best coaches are not ready to come to Manchester United." Fabian Horsler, the head coach of Brighton, was also almost excluded from the list of options because of the high cost of ending the contract. Unai Emery, the head coach of Aston Villa, is also considered an expensive option due to his long-term contract until 2029.
