Harry Kane, captain of the England team and star of Bayern Munich, won the best male striker of the year award, and Charlene Corral, the striker of Pachuca and the Mexico national team, won the best female striker of the year award at the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony. "I'm very happy to be here," said Charlene Correll after winning the award for the best striker of 2026. "I am the first Mexican woman to receive this award and I am proud that Mexico is doing very well in women's soccer." After winning the 2026 Gard Müller Award, Harry Kane said: "Last year was without a doubt the best season of my career. To score this number of goals is the result of the effort of the whole team. I have a wonderful team by my side and I know that without my wife's support it would not have been possible to achieve this success."
