On Thursday, UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported on social media site X that a tanker had been approached by a small vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, with two explosive devices attached to the tanker's hull. As a result of their explosion, a fire broke out in the engine room, causing the ship to temporarily lose steam. The fire was later extinguished and the tanker continued on its way to its next destination. The UKMTO noted that staff were safe and environmental damage was avoided.
