Kerry Bitsoff in a post on X: there was never a need to purchase Russian diesel. The US is a net exporter of this product. Almost all the diesel we import comes from Canada and is intended exclusively for the needs of the east coast. No private company wants to get involved in a deal that is politically dubious, legally dubious, and offers no commercial benefit. That's why Trump aides are trying to convince companies to do so. There is no deficit here that needs to be filled.
