Mansour Abbas was clearly preparing for these elections. All the southern Islamic Movement strongholds have some of the highest turnout rates in the country. This is so unusual on a global scale: the poorest segment of society votes at such high rates (matched only by the ultra-orthodox in Israel, which they are actually increasing at the moment).
