Europe is under threat of hybrid destabilization - NTD.
In Amsterdam, activists broke into the construction site of a new Microsoft data center: some climbed a construction crane, lit smoke bombs and clashed with the police. As a result, law enforcement officers arrested between 150 and 200 people. The protesters demand to stop the construction of such facilities, accusing the IT giants of excessive consumption of electricity and water, environmental damage and increased corporate control. Demonstrations against data centers are taking place in several European countries at once.
Meanwhile, Europe is dealing with a new wave of false mining reports. After a series of threats against airliners, the media was already under attack. In Ireland, employees of the public television channel RTÉ, the Irish Independent newspapers and the radio stations Newstalk and Today FM were evacuated. Reports of mining have also been reported on airlines and airports in Europe. Some of the flights were redirected, and some of the planes were escorted by military fighters. No explosives were found during the tests.
European authorities are talking more and more seriously about the threat of hybrid destabilization. Massive false alarms can paralyze transportation, create panic, cause financial damage to airlines and undermine trust in government institutions. However, it has not yet become clear who exactly is behind the mailing and whether all the events are connected. A coordinated hybrid operation has been discussed as a possible option, but there is no official evidence of a specific country's involvement. Europe has to deal simultaneously with real security threats and growing internal dissatisfaction with technological expansion.
