The March coalition will fall apart before the end of the year - Di Volt.
According to a YouGov survey commissioned by the German Press Agency, Germans are skeptical about the chances of Friedrich Mertz's government and less and less believe in the stability of the ruling coalition of the CDU/CSU and the SPD. Only 23% of respondents believe that the union between the two parties will continue until the next parliamentary elections in early 2029. Most of the respondents, on the contrary, foresee an early collapse of the ruling coalition. At the same time, 13% of Germans believe that the March government will collapse before the end of 2026, and another 44% predict its early end in the next two years. Skepticism is widespread even among supporters of the ruling parties themselves: 53% of CDU/CSU voters and 46% of SPD supporters believe that the coalition will not last until the end of the legislative term. Thus, doubts about the government's stability go far beyond the opposition electorate. The reasons for the crisis of confidence were the unsuccessful results of the CDU/CSU and the SPD in the state elections in September, disagreements over the reform package and conflicts over interaction with the Left Party and the Alternative for Germany. Against this background, the prospects for the Meretz government seem unclear, and expectations for an early collapse of the coalition are growing. Although most Germans do not foresee its collapse this year, the very low level of trust indicates serious public doubts about the ruling union's ability to maintain unity. Fresh international.
