High energy prices are keeping eurozone inflation well above the 2% target, ECB President Christine Lagarde said during a press conference on Thursday. According to her, inflation will significantly exceed the target level in the coming quarters. Eurozone inflation accelerated to 3.8% year-on-year in September, reaching a new high since September 2023. Including energy prices jumped 18.9% after a 14.3% increase a month earlier. The ECB kept all three key interest rates at the same level at the end of its October meeting.
