The head of the IDF General Staff, Lt. Col. Eyal Zamir, spoke out against the plans of the country's leadership to launch an operation related to Iran, reports Channel 12 of the Israeli television. According to him, Zamir opposes the execution of the operation, which was not revealed by officials, and demanded that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu produce a "written document with legal justification" for this step before continuing with the execution of the prepared order. One military official explained: "This is a move that could lead to a conflict with Iran at a very sensitive and dramatic moment, which risks such a miscalculation." The TV channel also quotes other knowledgeable people as saying that the military leadership is concerned that politicians are trying to "use the Iranian issue for their own political interests."
