Syria is negotiating for a possible accession to the Mecca Defense Agreement.
Syrian authorities are discussing the possibility of joining the Mecca Defense Agreement (Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan), Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shibani said on Saturday. "Regarding an agreement from here, negotiations are underway on this issue," The National quoted him as saying from the IISS Manama Dialogue conference. "It doesn't matter if Syria is in the agreement or not, the country is part of the regional security system and will stand up to any organization that protects security in the region," he said.
