The US advises ships to avoid transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
The US military on Wednesday advised ship crews not to use the Strait of Hormuz unnecessarily and to keep a distance from it due to the growing tensions in the region, Bloomberg reports. "Due to the current geopolitical situation, ships that do not need to pass here are advised to stay away to avoid unnecessary delays in navigation," the US Navy-sponsored Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) said in a statement. It is recommended to allow additional time for the passage, taking into account the increased traffic density and operations to maintain the military blockade of Iran's ports," the alert explains.
