Shukin allowed a scenario with American companies replacing the German ones in Nord Stream's shareholder structure.
The scenario in which American companies become shareholders of Nord Stream as part of potential agreements on the reactivation of idle gas pipelines is possible, says the head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Alexander Shukhin. "If the Americans help us restore the gas supply to Europe, well, not the Americans as a government, but American companies, which become shareholders, perhaps replacing German companies in Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2, well, that's a matter," Shukin told reporters on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Forum. "I said a long time ago that it would be better for us to sell Nord Stream and make money on gas supply, instead of just having a leaky pipeline there, so to speak," said the head of the RSPP.
