A magnitude 4.4 earthquake occurred Tuesday morning near the northern Kuril Islands of the Sakhalin region, the Sakhalin branch of the United Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences told Interfax. An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 was recorded on October 20 at 08:43 local time (00:43 Moscow time) in the Pacific Ocean with an epicenter 67 km east of the uninhabited island of Matua.
