Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Kalmykov believes that installing a small nuclear power plant on the moon is absolutely possible
The current level of technology makes it possible to organize the creation of a small nuclear power plant on the moon, says the vice-president of the Russian Academy of Sciences Stepan Kalmykov. "Small power plants are something that has been operating for a long time, does not require frequent changes of energy-producing material, so, it seems to me, this is exactly what is needed," he told reporters in Novosibirsk on Sunday on the sidelines of the conference "Synchronotron Research: Science, Knowledge, Innovation, the Future" (SKIF-2026) organized by the Russian Foundation with the support of the Russian Foundation.
