Hurricane Isias may briefly strengthen to Category 3 as it heads toward the United States

Meteorologists predicted Isaias would strengthen to a Category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale, but then weaken before making landfall on the U.S. Gulf Coast late Friday or Saturday, the National Hurricane Center said Friday. Isaias could briefly strengthen to a Category 3 later today.
