Moscow hopes that supporters of the escalation in Ukraine will be convinced to abandon it

Russia expects that countries that are genuinely interested in resolving the Ukrainian conflict diplomatically will be able to convince the supporters of the war not to follow the path of escalation, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing. "We expect that countries that are truly interested in peace will be able to convince those who support the continuation of the war to follow the path of achieving a peace settlement through political and diplomatic means," she said in response to the question of whether a meeting between the presidents of Belarus and the United States, Alexander Lukashenko and Donald Trump, is possible to help resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
