Trump will appoint the special envoy to Belarus Kol as a special representative on hostage matters

The President of the United States Donald Trump appointed the special envoy for Belarus John Cole to the position of special representative on hostage matters. "I am pleased to announce that John Cole, an outstanding lawyer and my incredibly successful Special Envoy to Belarus, will be my nominee for the position of Presidential Special Envoy for Hostage Affairs at the rank of ambassador," he wrote on the social network. The president recalled that during the past year Cole "has already obtained the return from Belarus of more than 65 citizens of the United States and allied countries, and also agreed to the release of over 800 political prisoners from several countries in Eastern Europe."
