Politico reports on EU concerns about the weakening of Chancellor Marez's position
The European Union can no longer turn a blind eye to the challenges facing German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz, Politico reported Friday. "After a series of humiliating electoral defeats in which the extreme right achieved historic gains, and against a background of internal disputes in the ruling coalition on social policy, the European Union's partners are beginning to prepare for a scenario in which the German chancellor may lose his position or at least be pushed aside in the next crucial months," the publication said. It refers to several EU diplomats and officials who wished to remain anonymous.
