The German department store chain Galleria files for bankruptcy

Galleria, the owner of Germany's last remaining department store chain, filed for bankruptcy at the Dusseldorf court on Friday. "This filing creates the legal basis for streamlining the current situation, stabilizing the company and creating the conditions for a sustainable future for Galeria," the retailer said in a statement.
