Three arrested for attacks on military personnel and riot police in Chechnya in 1999 and 2000.
Law enforcement authorities have detained three alleged participants in an attack on Ministry of Defense military personnel and riot police in Chechnya in 1999 and 2000 in several regions of the Russian Federation, the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the FSB of the Russian Federation reported. "As a result of the activities carried out, an irrefutable evidentiary base has been established for the participation of three Russian citizens in attacks as part of the gang formations of Shamil Basayev and Khattab in October 1999 against military personnel of the Russian Ministry of Defense near the village of Chervlenaya, Shelkovsky district, and in March 2000, against the Main Directorate of the Police in the federal district near the village of Dzhani-Vedeno, Vedeno district of the Chechen Republic, during which 58 military personnel and law enforcement officers were killed and 130 were injured," says the PRC statement received on Thursday by Interfax.
