PCT called the Maldives tax on the fringes of Russian travel companies unenforceable

The Russian Travel Industry Association considers the Maldivian authorities' requirement for Russian tour operators and travel agents to pay a 17% marginal tax (GST) on the sale of tours to the archipelago legally and practically unenforceable, RST reports. In this context, RST appealed to the State Embassy in Russia and the Ministry of Economic Development with a request to transfer this position to the Maldivian side and exclude Russian tour operators and travel agents from the regulation or suspend its application until an agreed solution is developed.
