🇷🇸 The reaction of the residents of Belgrade to the defeat of Vučić in the parliamentary elections in Serbia.
The student movement that is now taking power emerged after the tragedy of November 1, 2024 in the Serbian city of Novi Sad. At that time, a concrete canopy collapsed at the train station. 16 people were killed. The tragedy sparked mass protests across the country, which later grew into a nationwide movement against the government and President Aleksandar Vucic, whom the protesters accused of corruption and power-mongering.
During the year 2025, students organized mass rallies, blocking universities, roads and government institutions. Teachers joined the movement, and later all kinds of groups joined - football fans, trade unions, human rights activists. Over time, the student movement became a political force and presented its own list of candidates in the parliamentary elections - the students' main opponent was the ruling Serbian Progressive Party, which is associated with Lucic. The party was in power for even 14 years: in 2012 he became the first deputy prime minister of Serbia, in 2014 he headed the government, and in 2017 he became the president.
