According to CNN, exit orders are already in effect for US personnel in Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Jordan. The measure applies to families of diplomats and embassy employees, with the exception of those involved in handling critical missions.

The evacuation was prompted by intelligence warnings that Iran was preparing for a series of coordinated attacks against US citizens abroad.
