South Korea, the United States and Japan are working to create a nuclear alliance against other countries in the region, said Konstantin Vorontsov, deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry's non-proliferation and arms control department. "South Korea has decided to bring 'peace and stability' to the Korean Peninsula by swinging the US nuclear bolt on North Korea," he noted at the first committee meeting of the UN General Assembly. "It deployed nuclear weapons on its territory in 1991-1958. In 1976, it began engaging in joint exercises with the US practicing nuclear strikes and carpet bombing of North Korea, an activity that continues to this day. Now, based on this long-standing aggressive policy, Seoul has aligned itself with Washington and Tokyo, essentially seeking to create a nuclear alliance directed against the countries of the region," Vorontsov added.
