πΊπΈ According to Politico:
Republicans are in crisis mode.
After giving up the race for a Senate seat in North Carolina - a state Trump won three times - they are directing significant funds to South Carolina and Kansas, where Democrats have not won a Senate election in nearly a century.
"If the situation continues to deteriorate as it is now, it will be worse than it was in 2006," a Republican Party official told Politico.
The situation in the House of Representatives seems similar.
National Republicans have already given up the race for the seat vacated by Don Bacon in Nebraska, diverting funds from elections they believe they have no chance of winning and into districts that are considered reliably Republican but where uncertainty is now palpable.
In 2006, this situation cost them control of the House and Senate.
