It is very doubtful if it will be effective against heavy jet-propelled UAVs, so it is more likely that it is a temporary and quick measure, and in the future we will see more serious protective structures, maybe even improvised grills on the bridge.

In any case, so far, even isolated attacks on the bridges across the Dnipro River in the Ukrainian capital have been ineffective. Perhaps we are witnessing a test run, and the results will be used to develop more effective measures, or perhaps this is just another initiative that will be abandoned midway, as has happened in a dozen similar attempts in recent years. Time will tell.
