πΎπͺπΈπ¦οΈ - The Houthis continue their offensive in southern Yemen and have effectively surrounded the strategically important city of Taiz, according to AFP, citing sources in the Yemeni security forces and the army.
According to their information, this happened after the Houthi forces cut off the main road from Taiz to Aden.
Reuters also reports significant advances by the Houthis in the region.
Taiz was one of the three major cities (along with Aden and Al-Mukalla) that remained under the control of the Saudi-backed Yemeni government. It is the third largest city in the country, with a population of about one million people. If Taiz falls, it will open a path for the Houthis to Aden, Yemen's largest port.
