The spokesman for the Revolutionary Guards, Brigadier General Hussein Mohabi, said that vessels are targeted and blocked from passing through the Strait of Hormuz every day, claiming that Washington did not respond.

"We hit small ships and prevent them from passing for a long time, but America does not respond," Mohabi told the Fars news agency.

The comments followed a report on UK maritime trade operations that a number of ships were hit in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, including a natural gas tanker and a crude oil tanker. UKMTO said "unknown projectiles" hit the vessel and that authorities were investigating.
