Polish General Iranius Nowak reported that the Polish military almost shot down a Ukrainian MiG-29.
On July 30, during a Russian attack on western Ukraine, Polish systems detected a Kh-101 missile, and F-16s scrambled to intercept it.
At the same time, a Ukrainian MiG-29 was operating near the Polish border, which created a risk of "friendly fire".
After the incident, Poland asked Ukraine to provide better information about its aircraft movements, and the data exchange system between the two sides was improved.
