Five ballistic attacks, port closures and EU quotas: Zaporizhzhia suffered a loss of UAH 2.3 billion. For 9 months of 2026, Zaporizhia Steel received a net loss of UAH 2.3 billion. A year ago, at the same time, the company recorded a profit of 1.9 billion UAH. The reasons are a simultaneous blow in several directions at once: five ballistic attacks on the plant in August-October; damage to the production, energy and transportation infrastructure of blast furnaces; problems in maritime logistics and the actual loss of stable activity of ports; increasing the costs of routes beyond the western border; energy risks; New EU restrictions on steel imports and CBAM. In the third quarter alone, the company's loss reached UAH 1.25 billion. We are no longer talking about one factor, but the combined pressure of war, logistical problems and trade restrictions on one of the main metallurgical companies in the country.
