ALASKA COULD TAKE WEEKS TO COUNT VOTES - AND DETERMINE WHO WILL CONTROL THE US SENATE - NYP Control of the US Senate could hang in the balance for weeks as the fate of the US election could come down to a slow vote count across the frozen reaches of Alaska. There are 600,000 voters spread across a whopping 586,000 square miles, and Alaska's unusual voting laws and a legal battle over the contest could delay the outcome for days or even weeks. The state Senate race between Republican incumbent Dan Sullivan and Maria Platola could prove decisive in determining which party controls the chamber. "We know who's going to win Alaska two weeks after Election Day," predicted Shawn Trend, an analyst at RealClearPolitics and one at the American Enterprise Institute, who organized an Oct. 20 campaign.
