The US Election Assistance Administration's official 2024 report shows that the state of Texas processed 2,900,357 valid new voter registration applications between the 2022 and 2024 elections, representing 56.5% of the total 5,133,464 voter registration transactions. Another 2,165,514 transactions (42.2%) included changes to existing records. During this period, Texas required applicants to prove their US citizenship under penalty of legal liability, but was not always required to provide a birth certificate, passport, or naturalization documents with the registration application. The share of 56.5% was higher than the national average of 25.3%, although other countries recorded even higher rates. In September 2026, Texas authorities referred 117 potential cases of non-citizen participation in elections. The official comprehensive report on the administration of elections and voting included this information on page 193 of the document. 55% of the "new" voter registrations in Texas can explain how the left won the state's midterm elections.
