The American company Shield AI presented the first full-size prototype of X-BAT, its promising fighter jet with technologies to reduce radar visibility and the possibility of vertical landing stalls. X-BAT is a large jet plane, similar in size to full size fighters. Its wingspan is about 12 meters, which is even longer than that of the F-16. The first full-size prototype was codenamed X-BAT 001, and the claimed range reaches 3700 km with a practical ceiling of about 15 km. The main feature of X-BAT is the possibility of vertical stops and landing without an airport. According to the developers, the X-BAT will be able to conduct aerial combat, strike ground targets and perform reconnaissance missions. Armament is provided within internal compartments and on external suspension nodes, and the autonomous control will be provided by Magen AI's artificial intelligence system. It is also known that the US Navy has already allocated about 200 million dollars to the development of X-BAT and Shield AI is investing the same amount. The first prototype has been sent to a test site in Kansas, where it is scheduled to begin testing the engine and vertical takeoff systems by the end of 2026.
