The French military has begun retraining its AMX-10RC armored vehicle cannons to become attack FPV UAV operators. The French Navy's First Marine Battalion has experimentally converted one of its three patrol companies into a special unmanned systems unit. The experiment was successful until the summer of 2027 and the French army plans to establish about 15 such units. Thus, earlier, during the Hedgehog 2025 exercise in Estonia, French drone operators, who made up only 5% of the tactical group's personnel, ensured 20% of the enemy's contingent losses in one day. The enemy was American soldiers driving the M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle. Later, during exercise Orion 2026, drone teams destroyed four battalion command posts, several supply columns and air defense units. Now the French military expects to increase the range of use of its FPV drones to 10 km, and thanks to the introduction of automatic guidance, increase the effectiveness of hitting targets from the current 5-30% to 80-90%.
