A hacker group that claimed responsibility for displaying pornographic material on a roadside billboard in Egypt told Cairo Report that it exploited a software vulnerability in digital billboards across several countries. According to the hackers, this incident exposed serious security flaws in infrastructure used for commercial purposes. The group said its members discovered thousands of vulnerable systems during a two-hour automated scan. Among the countries where the hackers managed to gain access to screen control systems, they noted Iraq, Malaysia, Brazil, and China. The announcement follows an incident on Thursday, October 29, in which sexually explicit material appeared on a large electronic billboard along one of the country's busiest highways, the July 26 Highway in Giza Governorate (connecting Cairo to its western suburbs). Videos circulated on social media showed this content being broadcast on the screen, prompting authorities to suspend advertising structures along the route and launch an investigation.
