The Pentagon is treating a series of refrigeration failures that affected stores at several US military bases in August as a possible cyber attack, four sources familiar with the situation told Reuters. The Pentagon said the Cyber Command unit is "working closely with interagency partners and law enforcement agencies" in the ongoing investigation. At least six stores on the bases were affected in late August, according to Reuters. In one case, the temperature in the refrigeration units was raised overnight, causing food to spoil. The Fort Huachuca military base in Arizona issued a statement that its freezer "went into defrost mode, causing all the food to warm up." One of the sources said that investigators had contacted their French counterparts about a similar attack that occurred earlier this month and affected more than 350 French supermarkets.
