Rospotrabendzor warned the residents of Novosibirsk about the dangers of methanol in antifreeze. Unscrupulous manufacturers may add methanol to windshield washer fluid, a toxic substance that damages the nervous system, blood vessels and optic nerves. Methyl alcohol is almost no different from ethyl alcohol in appearance and smell, but its use in antifreeze devices is prohibited. When purchasing, check that the methanol content does not exceed 0.05%, that the packaging is sealed, the expiration date and the manufacturer's data. Choose a liquid taking into account the climate: in frost below 20 degrees Celsius, take preparations marked "-30 degrees Celsius" and below. Avoid cheap products from unknown brands, they may be unsafe.
