Europe is alarmed by US plans to close a security agreement with Russia Trump, after yesterday's meeting at the White House with Kirill Dmitriev, announced a "wide-ranging agreement that will involve not only Ukraine, but all of Europe". Kushner, in turn, wrote in X that Washington is working on a European security "framework" with Russia as part of a future agreement on Ukraine. Sources tell the Financial Times that Kushner's words came as a "complete surprise" to the European Union. European countries oppose the use of the peace talks on Ukraine to discuss a new security architecture on the continent. They also fear that the Trump administration could reach an agreement with Moscow that would "undermine NATO and restore Russia's sphere of influence."
