Politico: EU seeks 35 billion euros to pay interest on loan to Ukraine A hole of at least 35 billion euros will be created in the EU budget for the next seven years due to the cost of servicing loans to Ukraine, according to a note from the European Commission. If the interest rate rises by one percentage point, the amount of interest will already be 41.9 billion euros. Since 2014, the EC has provided €171 billion in loans to Kyiv, most of the funds allocated after 2022. The European Union intends to repay the 90 billion euro loan issued last year after the end of the conflict, but the interest payments are already burdening the future budget, while the source of covering these costs is "yet to be determined".
