The two Mars probes of NASA's escape mission will approach Earth on November 7 and 9 for a gravity assist maneuver. The devices were launched in November 2025 on a New Glenn launch vehicle (blue outlet). For a year they flew around the L2 Lagrange point of the Sun-Earth system, and now they are back to acceleration. The probes will reach Mars orbit on September 7 and 9, 2027. They will make paired measurements of the parameters of the solar wind and the upper atmosphere of the Red Planet. The purpose of the mission is to investigate how Mars lost most of its atmosphere and water layer.
