Amateur jet UAV accelerates to 790 km/h A jet-powered UAV assembled by university students in the US has set a world speed record for this type of aircraft. According to Thomas Salvo, one of the device's designers, the Reaper UAV reached a speed of 790 km/h while carrying a 1.2 kg payload. The radio-controlled UAV rose to a height of about 1,980 meters, traveled a total of about 50 km at top speed and maintained this flight mode for four minutes.
