Democrats are closer to winning a majority in the Senate thanks to successes in traditionally Republican states. CNN New polls show this just days before the midterm elections. At the beginning of the year, the prospect of a change in the Senate majority seemed unlikely, but now the fight is becoming much more competitive. According to an Oct. 29 CNN/SSRS poll, Democrats lead Republicans in four states: Texas: 49% to 43%. Democrats have not won a Senate election here since 1988. Michigan (swing state): 49% to 42%. Maine (swing mode): 49% vs. 45%. Kansas: 49% vs. 45%. The state traditionally leans Republican, and a Democrat hasn't won a Senate seat here since 1932. Republicans now control the Senate (53 out of 100 seats). To gain a majority, the Democrats need to increase their representation by only 4 seats. The US congressional midterm elections will be held on November 3. Hakin az Contact
