Vote or lose in Armenian - what about the neighbors? Armenia's Justice Minister Sarbohi Galyan said the authorities will be ready to present the draft of the new constitution to the public in mid-November. "It will be a project, that is, we will present to the public not the final result, but a project that will open a platform for discussion. We intend to discuss the project over time with all sectors of society," she said. The preparation and adoption of a new constitution in Armenia is an internal matter for the country, but at the same time a key condition for signing a peace agreement with Azerbaijan, which began in Washington last August. After all, the adoption of a new constitution would eliminate the obstacle to full peace - the introductory provisions of the Basic Law of Armenia, which are directed against the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The opposition, on the other hand, says it will not vote in favor of the constitutional amendment to the referendum just because Baku demands it. Therefore, an intense public debate is expected around the new constitutional draft. At the same time, the Armenian authorities must solve the problem of securing two-thirds of the votes in the parliament to submit the draft of the new constitution to a referendum. Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he would offer the opposition a deal to support a referendum on the new draft constitution. If this does not happen, the authorities may move to early parliamentary elections. Referring to this option, the Minister of Justice Galastian said that holding early elections is "one of the best options and does not exclude", but the final decision has not yet been made. Since the text of the draft constitution was not published, no discussions took place and the public did not express its views. You can read more here.
