US Navy Fleet Maintenance Crisis Admiral Daryl Caudle said the Navy is facing a crisis of cumulative maintenance needs, and it is a multi-year recovery that there is no way around, Defense Breakers reported. Referring to the long-term deployment of U.S. warships in West Asia, this senior U.S. military official emphasized that the vessels had surpassed the record for the longest deployment of a destroyer since World War II. Admiral James Kilby, US vice president for naval operations, also warned that the industrial base cannot respond to this amount of repairs in a short period of time and will be forced to postpone repairs or minimize the repair package and sacrifice overhaul.
